Liliac’s Night

They came on a full moon

Bright as the day

They’re nothing but kids

I heard people say

Little they knew

Their world had just changed

Those who deny

Are only deranged

Welcome a new Dawn

You’ve slept as they play

Their stage is the night

They avoid light of day

Run if you can

Stay if you dare

For none can resist

 A Liliac’s snare

You’ll Listen you’ll hear

Eternal Rock’s Might

You’re now theirs forever

Caus’ their music’s their bite!  JMD 2-23-19

Say What?

Most can hear, but few listen
Many speak, mere pointless groans
Some lose Hope, Lost forgotten
Bank of Time, makes no loans

What would you say to every ear
turned heads looking all your way
offer kindness love, or hate & fear?
to some a question, some clear as day

Thanks to all for giving time
growing close in unity
there isn’t many in that line
sad nature of humanity

Playing guitar so much it makes me feel so good it hurts so much so I keep

playing guitar so much it makes me feel so good it hurts so much so I keep

playing guitar so much it makes me feel so good it hurts so much so I keep

playing guitar so much it makes me feel so good it hurts so much so I keep

playing guitar….

By The Blues

By The Blues

Talking with my fret board, so many ways to say
All the hurt and pain of life, with us every day
Bringing home the money, tryin to get by
Smile hiding pain but, all the breaking hearts still cry

All it takes is seeing all, the suffering that’s around
Is most caused by you and me, to that fate are we bound
If you were the president, or king or priest or clown
could you ask forgiveness, speak truth or be profound

Don’t need to be no blind man, Don’t need to be abused
Don’t need to be a prisoner , To be stricken by the blues

Anger is a warning that, not all of life is fair
Some steal and hate and complicate, pretending that they care
Just remember inside all of us, is one remaining dream
All hope for love for better life, is working as a team

So listen is your self-talk, warm n soft or hard n cold
We are the change we all need, so I have been told
What else do you want, me to say what can I do
The music deep inside of me is just as much in you

Don’t need to be no blind man, Don’t need to be abused
Don’t need to be a prisoner , To be stricken by the blues

Voices Inside

when you’re alone, is there a time
when you are feeling you’re out of your mind
don’t be afraid friend, someday you’ll know
voices inside of your head come and go

sometimes they’ll warn you of things that are wrong
or maybe they’ll tell you where you belong
ask them a question, they never reply
because they’re your own mind asking you why

why do you punish yourself when you see
that you’re only human, perfection can’t be
mistakes teach a lesson but don’t make you learn
you’re your own teacher, no one’s concern

Oh, they might make faces or laugh while they talk
but run your own life and let them all walk
if you meet special friends on the way
respect and enjoy them don’t force them to stay

choices in life are harder to make
if you confuse the real from the fake
decide for yourself, relax and you’ll find
in time you will see, you are in your right mind.

Dream Too True

Once in a dream, was it real? did it seem
like a merry-go-round at the fair.
The merry-go-round sings as it swings,
and won’t stop for you, time doesn’t care.

Blessed with a girl and a ring, same old thing,
only this time no love could compare.
The ring, in the dream, at the fair makes me think
of the golden light shown in her hair.

Beauty untold, a delight to behold, and to
kiss and to touch and to share.
Could only I see through the greed hid in me,
by the lust of old jealousy’s stare.

This maiden of life might well be my wife,
had the knife of all envy been spared.
Reality’s ride heeds neither one’s side,
as it spins round and round down life’s stair.

I never did want such a dream to awake,
much less drop the gold ring at the fair.
The love for this girl , yet the same, I’m to blame,
and the tears through the years as still there.

The merry-go-round sings as it swings,
and won’t stop for you, time doesn’t care.
Once in a dream, was it real? did it seem
Life’s a merry-go-round at the fair.

Fate Line

Confident experienced, yet sittin’ home alone
Friday Blues, what’s ta lose,
try the telephone.

Dial 1, just for fun, the classified menu
A simple fee, no loves for free,
there’s someone just for you.

Date-line Fate-line, faceless fantasy
just your number and your name,
your dreams of ecstasy

Date-line Fate-line, 50 words or less.
Who could tell, you’ve hid so well,
the voice of lonliness?

Confident, experienced,
still reachin’ for the phone.
Lay your heart out on the line
In the Twilight Zone.

Courage To Ride

You flashed your smile, cow slippers and all
I instantly joined you, we walked down the hall

Friendship, sincerity, simple and pure
Together we hoped, we prayed for the cure

Celebrating life, sharing your dream
We danced, laughed and played, in cake and icing

Blessed with a beauty inside of your soul
Giving your love, was your only goal

Strength and endurance, as not before shown
You sat tall in the saddle, to face the unknown

Proudly commanding, riding your best
Recognized by all as “Our Special Guest”

Honored today by God’s gentle touch
We want you to know that we love you so much

You gave us all memories we’ll cherish inside
That the Rodeo of life takes “Courage To Ride”

In loving memory of Gertie, my “Cowgirl”.

That Which Is Essential

I really must tell you, its not easy to love
In a life full of hate, people push and they shove
To get to the top of some material hill
They stomp out emotions and sometimes they kill
Making their money for power or lust
They betray all promise and destroy all trust
Children will suffer, cry, even bleed
Because of the selfishness of this greed
Its easy to hate in a world full of pain
no one can see why its all so insane
But life is a balance of equal desire
it takes only love to smother hate’s fire
We have a choice to give and to take
A future of hope is what is at stake
Its a struggle to make it from just day to day
It takes strength and some courage to not run away
But deep in the mind is the power to heal
Much stronger than any evil could steal
What most of us really need is to share
The love that exists in spite of despair
It is the toughest of those who love in this life
Despite all the sickness and grief and the strife
Nature is harsh enough all alone
Without pointing a finger or casting a stone
So if you are lucky enough to endure
Remember that love is the only real cure
Of all of the virtues people possess
Love is the easiest lost in a mess
Have faith in yourself and look for the truth
Reality is more that a tooth for a tooth
It so often takes more strength to forgive
There is nothing weak about live and let live
Each person has their own right to be free
This includes you and its easy to see
Not everyone always plays by the rules
Love is not taught in four sided schools
It has to be learned by sharing respect
It can’t be demanded by impatient neglect
Love is the tenderness of a touch
Understanding life is often too much
Hero’s don’t always fight wars of win games
They’re just simple people who love without shame.

All I Didn’t Say

I met her in the moonlight
waterfall surprise
we laughed into the morning
intimate sunrise

Genie of my wishes
once only in my mind
now hand in hand together
dreams, one of a kind

we planned into tomorrow
to love just for today
and share each precious moment
in every special way

days turned to forever
it’s been almost a year
her tender voice is calling
wanting me to hear

she hopes that soon we’ll marry
share a life of joy
in her hands she’s hinting
with a newborn baby toy

her eyes alive with laughter
aglow of hopes and dreams
she asks me “What’s the matter?”
I say “oh nothing, it just seems”

then tears began to glisten
out behind my Kool-Ray shades
somehow I’ve got to tell her
I think I may have AIDS

a cool breeze now is blowing
tiny wisps of golden hair
across her fading smile
beneath her frozen stare
