No amount of hope now tethered fast
I tugged at each sweep of fate’s hand
My thoughtful response, choked in silence
Everybody knew. I believed it now, they always had.
A wave of hot foolish shame warmed my face
I had always known. I believed it now, I always had.

There is no way that you’d know. Please now, don’t be mad
It isn’t always easy, living with such pain
Life is never fair, see. The struggle was insane
Remember that I love you, and all the love we found

Forever it seems I struggle
day in day out fight
Around me is so much trouble
a darkness blocking my light
There once was a time I trusted
felt this life was so sweet
knowing some things will get busted
knocking us off of our feet
I’ve watched the kindness of many
who pick up the pieces that fall
building the world together
they let in the light to us all
But then there’s the greedy & haters
deceiving and cheating the sad
if stronger did really mean better
if smarter meant good and not bad
Thru all this pain and jealousy, there can be love and honestly
All I ever cared most for, was a smile in an open door.
Don’t let hate’s river wash you down, don’t let fear turn you around
Don’t let greed’s fire burn too hot, don’t forget battles that were fought
Forever it seems we struggle
